Cirrus Transition Program (CSIP)
About the program
A transition program gets a licensed pilot ready to fly an aircraft that is new to them. In the Cirrus SR22T that means learning a 315 horsepower turbocharged engine, the Garmin Perspective+ glass cockpit, the GFC 700 autopilot, and the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS). Our program covers the airplane's systems, normal and emergency procedures, and the decision making that goes with a fast, modern cross-country aircraft.
Training is led by a Blitz instructor with Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP) qualification, in our own Cirrus SR22T at Ogden-Hinckley Airport (KOGD). The program is built around you: it starts with what you already know and fills in what is new about the Cirrus, so you finish ready to fly the airplane safely. Reach out to us to talk through your experience and goals.
What key steps will you take to complete the program?
-
Step 1
Complete Ground Training
You start with ground training on the SR22T: the turbocharged engine, fuel and electrical systems, the Garmin Perspective+ avionics, the GFC 700 autopilot and the CAPS parachute system. You learn the airplane on the ground first, so your time in the air goes toward flying it.
-
Step 2
Fly the Cirrus With Your Instructor
Your instructor takes you through normal procedures, handling at higher speeds, avionics use in flight, and emergency procedures, including when and how to use CAPS. You fly the maneuvers until you are comfortable and in control of the airplane.
-
Step 3
Finish Ready to Fly the Cirrus
When your instructor is satisfied that you can fly the SR22T safely, you complete your checkout. The time you spend building cross-country experience in a modern, high-performance airplane is also a strong line on your resume.
