Cirrus Flight Training in Utah: Learn to Fly the SR22T
Train in a Cirrus SR22T at Blitz Aviation in Ogden. Fly with CFIs who know the Cirrus inside and out, and see how it fits into our training fleet.
Push the power up in a Cirrus SR22T and you notice it right away. It climbs hard, the Garmin screens throw a lot of information at you, and everything happens quicker than it did in the 172. So if you are looking into Cirrus flight training in Utah, the instructor you fly with matters as much as the airplane.
We have already trained students in our SR22T here at Blitz Aviation, and our Cirrus instructors know this airplane well. See the airplane on our Cirrus SR22T fleet page.
Why Instructor Experience Matters in a Cirrus
The Cirrus is a high-performance airplane, and it takes some getting used to. The avionics, the autopilot, and the speed all need practice before they feel natural.
Our Cirrus students fly with CFIs who specialize in the Cirrus, including our co-founder and Chief Flight Instructor, Mycah Pittman. They have taken other students through the same transition, so they know where new Cirrus pilots tend to fall behind and how to keep you ahead. Meet the rest of our instructors on the Blitz Aviation team page.
What You’ll Learn in Our SR22T
A quick look at what you will be working with in our Cirrus flight training aircraft:
| SR22T Feature | What You Learn |
|---|---|
| 315 hp turbocharged Continental TSIO-550-K | Power and engine management at Utah’s high altitudes |
| Garmin Perspective+ avionics | A full glass cockpit with synthetic vision and weather |
| GFC 700 autopilot | Managing advanced automation, a key skill for your Instrument Rating |
| Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) | When and how to use a whole-airplane parachute |
Because the SR22T has more than 200 horsepower, you’ll need a high-performance endorsement to fly it as pilot in command. Our high-performance endorsement guide walks through it step by step, and our CAPS guide explains the parachute system.
Where the Cirrus Fits in Our Fleet
You don’t have to start in a Cirrus. Most of our students begin in our Cessna 172s and Piper Archer II, then step up once they have the basics down. The SR22T is there for advanced training, cross-country flights, and pilots who want to fly something faster. For multi-engine work, we also fly a Beech Baron B55 in our Multi-Engine program.
Worried about cost? We offer flight training financing through Stratus Financial, so you can plan your training around your goals.
